Soulwire Blog 2010 Redesign

I’ve been off the web radar for several months. The later part of 2009 saw many changes and, despite being extremely busy with several interesting projects and personal studies, I have somewhat neglected this blog.

Without wishing to bore anyone with the details, I may still post a summary of what I am / have been working on recently – at some point – though for now it will suffice to say that I’m broadening my horizons – getting deeper into Processing and OpenGl and learning C++ with OF, as well as Objective C and the Cocoa Touch framework. As more projects using these technologies arise I hope to share this learning experience with you.

Design

With regards to the re-design; this is by no means the finished article, however I felt it best to push the current theme live so that I can start posting again. I hope that you find it more user friendly than the last edition, and please do leave any suggestions for improvement – it is like most things simply a work in progress.

Objectives

My aim is to continue posting content on a much more frequent basis, though with the philosophy that quality precedes quantity. That said, I will be adding tools to help aggregate my more continuous online activity in an attempt to share more of the work and ideas of others who inspire me, with you.

Now that the site is live, I will post a few catch-up entries over the coming weeks and from there hopefully find a more natural rhythm.

So, for those of you kind enough to listen, that is the egocentric chatter over! I look forward to resuming the dialogue with you – see you around.

Actually, yes – check it on your iPhone if you have one. I’m using WPTouch for mobile devices. You might have trouble with the Flash experiments though ;)

Here is what I’m seeing in Google Chrome OS X. It looks fantastic everywhere else.

Hi Lindy. haha, I kind of prefer it like that! Clearly a problem with the font, though it should degrade nicely (browser shots showed no problems and a massive list of systems and browsers. I’m also using OSX and Chrome. Any more information you could give me about your system?

Showing up perfectly now. Must have been some Chrome weirdness.

    3. Soulwire 2 years ago

Ahh, cheers for letting me know Lindy – I was starting to get kind of worried. We’ll blame it on the beta Chrome for now ;)

Looks sweet. I am also diving into Processing with OpenGL. Please share your experiences – the web needs more proc discussions.

Hey Felix. Good to hear from you. Yes, I will most certainly share, successes and mistakes alike. I’ve got a few AS3 things I want to get out there and then it’s onto the new stuff. Keep up the good work and speak soon.

Design looks great man, very nice subtle use of coloring with the categories! Love your blog btw. But I dislike this font at small size, it’s not very readable.

Hey Mark. Thanks for the kind words. With respects to the font size, are you referring to the comments or the post body? Maybe I should notch it up a bit. I agree that the comments can be a little hard on the eyes with the dark background. Keep the suggestions coming, I’m keen to make it enjoyable to use.

  11. Hey congrats with the new design, looks great.
but maybe the font-size is one size to smalle, alle the text smothers togeter and making hard to read on my monitor.
